- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Cooked pasta or rice (optional, for serving)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, Italian seasoning, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Roll the mixture into bite-sized meatballs.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and brown the meatballs for about 5-7 minutes.
- Spread 1 cup of marinara sauce evenly in a baking dish.
- Arrange the browned meatballs over the marinara sauce.
- Pour the remaining marinara sauce over the meatballs and sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
- Bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let cool for a few minutes before serving hot over cooked pasta or rice, if desired.
Notes
For a healthier twist, use ground turkey or chicken. You can also add different cheeses or use lentils for a vegetarian option.
