Mawa Modak is a delightful Indian sweet with a rich, creamy texture and sweetened coconut filling, perfect for celebrations.

- 2 cups mawa (khoya)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup grated coconut
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
- A pinch of saffron (optional)
- 2 tablespoons ghee (for greasing)
Instructions
- In a pan, heat the mawa on low flame for 2-3 minutes until it softens.
- Add the grated coconut, powdered sugar, cardamom powder, and saffron (if using). Mix well until all ingredients are fully combined.
- Cook the mixture for 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently, until it thickens and starts to leave the sides of the pan.
- Remove the pan from heat and let the mixture cool slightly until you can handle it comfortably.
- Grease your hands with ghee. Take small portions of the mixture and shape them into modaks, resembling teardrops.
- Place the modaks on a greased plate and allow them to cool completely before serving.
Notes
Serve at room temperature. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
