- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened

- 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 3 large eggs
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
- Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry flour mixture to the creamed butter mixture, alternating with the milk.
- Divide the batter in half and stir cocoa powder into one half until fully incorporated.
- Spoon the vanilla and chocolate batters alternately into the prepared pan and swirl gently with a knife.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For a lighter version, use Greek yogurt in place of some butter. Substitute all-purpose flour with gluten-free flour for a gluten-free option.
