- 2 cups granulated sugar
- ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- 1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt; whisk until blended.
- Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract to dry mix and beat on medium speed for 2 minutes until smooth.
- Gradually stir in boiling water; the batter will be thin.
- Pour the batter evenly into prepared cake pans.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool in pans for about 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
- Frost with chocolate frosting and add sprinkles or chocolate shavings as desired.
Notes
