Description

A classic Cottage Pie with rich filling of ground meat, vibrant veggies, and creamy garlic mashed potatoes, perfect for cozy family dinners.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef or lamb
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 2 pounds potatoes, peeled and chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground meat for 5-7 minutes.
  3. Add the chopped onion and diced carrots, cooking until softened, about 4-5 minutes.
  4. Stir in the tomato paste, beef broth, and Worcestershire sauce, letting it simmer for about 5 minutes, then add the frozen peas and season with salt and pepper.
  5. Boil the peeled and chopped potatoes in salted water until tender, around 15-20 minutes.
  6. Drain potatoes, mash with garlic, milk, and butter until smooth, seasoning with salt and pepper.
  7. Transfer the meat mixture to a baking dish, spreading mashed potatoes on top.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes
