Description

A delightful twist on the classic snack with the rich, nutty flavor of brown butter combined with gooey marshmallows and crispy cereal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 package (10 oz) mini marshmallows
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a large pot over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter. Stir occasionally until it starts to turn golden brown and releases a nutty aroma.
  2. Once the butter is browned, add the mini marshmallows and salt. Stir continuously until the marshmallows are completely melted and the mixture is smooth.
  3. Remove the pot from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the Rice Krispies cereal into the marshmallow mixture. Stir well until evenly coated.
  5. Transfer the mixture into a greased 9×13-inch pan and press evenly into the pan.
  6. Allow the treats to cool completely before cutting them into squares.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a pinch of cinnamon to the melted butter. Store leftovers in an airtight container for 2-3 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
