Description

Delightful bars combining rich chocolate, chewy caramel, and toasty coconut, reminiscent of a favorite girl scout cookie.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8×8-inch baking pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, granulated sugar, butter, salt, and vanilla extract until you have a thick dough.
  3. Press the dough evenly into the bottom of the baking pan.
  4. Bake for 15-20 minutes until the edges feel firm and the center is slightly soft.
  5. Sprinkle the shredded coconut over the baked base.
  6. Drizzle caramel sauce evenly over the coconut layer.
  7. Return the pan to the oven for an additional 10 minutes.
  8. Melt the chocolate chips and drizzle over the cooled bars before cutting into squares.

Notes

For gluten-free bars, substitute all-purpose flour with a gluten-free blend. They can be served warm or at room temperature, and pairing with a scoop of vanilla ice cream is delicious.
